# Reports

> AI-written reports from your data, editable and shareable

Describe the report you want; TaxLayer writes it from your figures, with charts and tables. You then edit it, refine it through chat, export it, or publish it. **Pro and Premium plans.**

## Creating one

* **Business:** the **+** next to **Reports** in the sidebar.
* **Firm:** open a client › the **+** next to **Reports** in the client sidebar. Reports are per client.

1. **Choose a template** (VAT position, P\&L summary with commentary, bank reconciliation report, management accounts pack and others) or **Start from scratch**.
2. **Choose data sources** — *myDATA*, *TaxLayer* (your uploaded documents), and any connected accounting system. Pick more than one for a cross-source report.
3. **Describe your report** — be specific: *Show me all expenses this quarter grouped by counterparty.*
4. **Create Report**. It takes 10–30 seconds. Sometimes TaxLayer asks a couple of clarifying questions first.

## Working on it

* Click any text to edit it in place; changes save automatically.
* **Report Chat** on the right regenerates the whole report from your request. If you've edited by hand, you're warned first.
* **Export** → PDF or Word.
* **Publish** → *Publish to team* (colleagues can read it) or, for firms, *Publish to client* (the client's primary contact gets an email and sees it under Reports in the portal).
* Firms: **Add team member** lets a colleague on that client's team edit with you.

Delete from the report's ⋯ menu in the sidebar.

Reports don't cost AI credits, but they count against the monthly AI usage limit.
