VAT & Tax: last finished period, the running period, and the estimates

The chip at the top right (myDATA data as of …) is the sync time every figure on this page is built from.

The cards

VAT to pay — ‹period› — the result of the VAT return for your last finished period: VAT charged on sales minus VAT you can deduct on purchases, adjusted the way the return is (non-deductible VAT, other amounts). Shown as to pay or in your favour, with Return due by the end of …. Click it (or the VAT so far card) to see How this figure is reached: VAT you charged on sales, minus VAT you can deduct on purchases, equals the VAT result — then the same three numbers month by month. Ask AI in that panel answers questions about the figure.

How this figure is reached, opened from the VAT so far card

If there’s no filing frequency: Filing frequency not set, so no due date is shown. Press Set filing frequency. VAT so far — ‹period› — the running result of the period you’re in. Press See forecast (Pro) for an estimate with a likely range, how it was worked out, and how often the range held on your own past months. myDATA VAT on sales and myDATA VAT on purchases — the VAT on your sales and purchase documents for a range you choose. Not all purchase VAT is deductible, which is why these don’t simply subtract to the first card. Tax withheld by your customers — income tax customers held back from payments to you this year. It counts towards your income tax. Estimated income tax: ‹year› so far — a rough figure for the tax still to pay on this year’s profit, with the working shown under it: profit so far from myDATA income and expenses, tax on that profit at the rate for your legal form, less tax already withheld, plus the advance tax for next year (80%). It leaves out payroll, depreciation, non-deductible expenses, prior-year losses and any advance tax you already paid. It is an estimate, not a return. VAT Position Over Time — monthly output, input and net VAT.

Warnings you may see

  • No myDATA yet for ‹months› — the sync hasn’t reached those months.
  • AADE has not classified 3 documents yet (€412 of purchase VAT). They are not in these figures. — the supplier filed, but the expense hasn’t been characterised yet, so its VAT isn’t deductible in this figure.
  • The credit is TaxLayer’s own calculation of Q2, not your filed return. — the carried credit is worked out from myDATA, not read from what you filed.
